I had a revelation when I woke up this morning. What if... just what if the problem with the C4 feeling that it is down a couple of cylinders is because it really is? So I go down and pop the hood and, even in my morning haze, notice two scorched and cracked plug wires. It's now running like a few thousand bucks again.
Thank you all for your sympathies/help, though. At least it now only needs bushings, a clutch, and a shitton of other stuff.

Phew! That's an awesome relief.

For sure! Although I still can't say that it runs like new, it's one hell of a lot better than the V6 I was damning. Now there's an explanation for why it looked like no oil had escaped...

I knew a few nights' rest would allow you to reassess the issue. Good to her it doesn't need major surgery!

Check your coolant

The coolant is fine. Flushing the radiator involves flushing from 3 different places (and requires a couple of hours), so until spring it should be good. I'll do it along with diff fluid, a serpentine belt, and seafoaming everything.

I wouldn't worry about the oil. The sump is pressurized but the path from the head to the sump is just wet bath, some oil may have squirted out but not enough to loose huge buckets of oil.

Hammerhead's right. Here's an SBC running with the entire valve cover removed. There's a fair amount of oil misting around, but now imagine how much of that mist would escape out of just the oil filler hole.
This is why I was skeptical about any major engine damage, and why I asked how much oil was showing on the dipstick.
That being said, a fair amount of dust and other contaminants would have likely entered the engine in those few days as well, so I'd say an oil change is in order unless you're parking it for the winter.

I was just being irrational because I am not very knowledgable about engines and I drive the car kind of hard. I started out with the same mindset but after a while I just assumed that everything possible had gone wrong at once...

Yeah , looking back there's no way such serious damage would have happened. I don't know why I didn't think spark plug wires at first.

Gosh, that's pretty.

That's a relief. I was thinking about your car earlier when I saw a nice looking C4...the world needs all the C4s it can get.

We've all been there.
P.S. I added a second vid with an SBC running with clear valve covers to give you an idea of how much oil gets flug when on-throttle.

That's an awesome looking video. And yeah, not a significant amount of oil... D'oh.

I think our cars just like scaring the shit out of us. Like my R which acted like it needed a $1500 repair (what I paid). I waited a few days, and saw it was a loose hose connected to that part.

Just the color of it.

Right; it's pretty blue/clean, I checked a while back. The car runs at a good temp, the meter tells to the degree.

Good news, I figured out where your oil didn't go.

Ohhhhh, now I see what you meant. Yeah, there isn't any oil in the coolant.

Sweet! Glad to hear it all worked out well.

They are soon to be an endangered species for sure! The fact that someone thought of my beaten up C4 while looking at a nice one makes me feel accompolished haha

Called it. And congratulations.

Hey, I owned the worlds shittiest C4...so they're all nice looking to me, haha.

Hah basically in the same boat here! I did kinda overpay for mine but I was enamored at first sight of it. Who cares how well a car drives if you're unhappy about racking up the miles anyways.
